Dibuang Sayang:
I remember wrote this story just after the
moment had happened in November 2015. I thought that finally there’s something
to write in my blog. But then I felt that it’s not an interesting story. So I
was discouraged to post it haha. But then I reread this and found that I put my
effort writing this story in English. So, dibuang
sayang. Still not an interesting story maybe, and with quite terrible
grammar HAHAHA. But here it is:
The Story of an Awkward Night
One night, on some kind of training event,
my friend Mbak Feb and I were asked
to help the committee to buy kiloan snack
(err, what it’s called in English?) which should be ready at 9 pm. We had to
feed 50 people with snacks so we might buy many. And there we go at 8.30 pm, by riding
motorcycle, we went across Kusumanegara street (which was near from event
place) to find store that sell cheap kiloan
snack. It was about 400 meters away that we realized we couldn’t find
easily the store nearby at night. We stopped and started to google certain
snack store place because we quite unfamiliar with Kusumanegara street area. We
found on map one market around the street so immediately we approached the
market which looked like more modern market that we doubted if they sell
cheaper kiloan snack or not. And it
was proven when we went inside, we couldn’t find particular snacks we need (it
was full of modern snacks).
Thus we googled another place, with more
specific keyword and once again found quite famous place reviewed by someone on
website (it was real kiloan snack
place anyway). It was 18 minutes away from our place by now. And it was closed
at 9 pm; we still had 20 minutes to go. Soo I was in a rush driving into that
place, unfortunately we found it had been closed!! It wasn’t even 9 o’clock yet
dear… We stopped again and decided to turn around and wishing lucks to find
another store on the way back, but still we found nothing. Okay, it’s almost 9
pm, and we have to find it immediately. My friend tried to call her friend if
she might know any other place. But still, remain unanswered.
I knew one place near my living area but it
was far far away from our location that time. A little frustrated, we down the
road, from south to north of Yogyakarta, From Pojok Benteng to Pogung. And it was too
late night for people to open their store, and we were in hurry. First place we reached was closed, second
place closed, third place closed. And there were only a few places left. On
fourth place, we found a store that half closed (its rolling door). And there
was mbak-mbak inside. Oh how we were
so happy! and excitedly went inside, but, mbak-mbaknya
refused us because it’s time to close and she should go home. But we beg her,
like… so much begging her (if you know what we’ve been through).
“Pleaseee.. please.. just one more order,
we can’t find other place”.
She still refused us because she had reason
“I have to go home because I have kid and it is late night already”
We still beg her
She was going inside and I wasn’t sure if
it means yes or no, but we continued in choosing our snack
Then she came out and said “Okay” and started
to serve our order. But, in a few seconds later there was tear falling from her
eyes, oh wait, she was... crying? my friend asked her if she was okay? She said
“Okay, luckily my house is near from here, how if it is far? Maybe I will not
serve you”
I started to feel guilty, maybe we forced
her a lot and thought of canceling my order. But she already weighed the
snacks. And she said ‘okay’ before. I mean to cancel my order if she never said
‘okay’, but she served us wasn’t that mean that she agreed? But in tears? This
confused me even more.
And still full of guilt I tried to offer
help for her -in case she was in a rush to go back home- to shorten time by
helping her packing the snacks. But she refused me and gave me her boss number
instead. “If you don’t like my serving you can report it to my boss, I’m trying
my best to serve you” With her trembling voice and unfriendly face.
My God! How could it be? She turned into a mad
lioness already!
I was thinking that she was so nice to
still serve us at this super late night. I NEVER EVEN intended to report to her
boss. But she thought the opposite thing. Never have imagined to be considered
as this bad person. And of course she succeeded in making me and Mbak Feb turn
into evil. Everything we did was definitely always been a mistake. Even for
just saying sorry.
I realized that she is a woman, and have a
kid that waited her in home. Then we came and forced her.
We might hurt her,
broke her heart as before we even realized it. Woman is indeed the most
complicated creature that God ever made.
Not to make the thing even worse, there’s
nothing we could do but standing in front of her and staring at her weighing
and packing our snacks, WHILE STILL CRYING. Trust me, that was the most awkward
moment I’ve ever had in my life.
Finally she was done with packaging snacks,
time to pay and apologize. Then GET OUT OF HER FACE as fast as we can. She
closed the rolling door while saying “Don’t ever do this again”. We were
smiling awkwardly and I rushed my motorcycle.
Mbak feb: “She might have a bad day before,
and we perfectly complete her whole day with the worst thing ever”
Me: “Couldn’t agree more”
